Princeton University Art Museum: Women, Art, & Social Change: The Newcomb Pottery Enterprise

Cost: Free

Organized by the Newcomb Art Gallery at Tulane University and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, this exhibition displays works from the American Art and Crafts movement, which flourished from 1880 to 1910. This showcase features pottery, textiles, metalwork, and jewelry created by Southern women over a 45-year time period.


Remembering Downton Abbey

Cost: $12, if ordered by June 1

This event has been organized by the Woman’s Club of Cranbury to honor Downton Abbey, which recently ended after releasing its sixth season. At this event, there will be trivia questions, a silent auction, prizes, refreshments, and a few surprises. All proceeds from this event will go towards the club’s charities, including its Scholarship Fund.


Pitch Perfect Sing Along

June 17, 7:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Princeton Shopping Center

Cost: Free

As part of the Movies Sing Along Series, the Princeton Girlchoir will perform songs from the movie Pitch Perfect, and their performance will be followed by an actual screening of Pitch Perfect. The shopping center also offers a variety of dining options such as Shanghai Park, Cross Culture, and Dolceria.  


10th Annual Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival

June 18, 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m., Mercer County Park Lake

Cost: Free

Paddle for Pink, which started in 2007, is hosted by the Machestic Dragons, New Jersey’s first breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. Paddle for Pink features more than 45 dragon boat teams, each with 20 paddlers, racing on Mercer County Lake. There will be live entertainment, vendors, silent auctions, bake sales, and dance performances.


The Sleeping Beauty Royal Ballet

June 19 and 29, 12:30 p.m., Princeton Garden Theatre

Cost: $18, $16 for members

This 70-year-old ballet features Marius Petipa’s 19th-century choreography, glorious music by Tchaikovsky, and newly created sections by Frederick Ashton, Anthony Dowell, and Christopher Wheeldon. The dancer who plays Aurora, Alexandra Ansanelli, has performed for Queen Elizabeth in 2007 and at the Kennedy Center for former President John F. Kennedy’s daughter, Caroline.

Summer Courtyard Concert Series

June 23–August 25, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Princeton Shopping Center

Cost: Free

Organized by the Edens PSC, Princeton Merchants, and The Arts Council of Princeton, this event is a great opportunity for friends and families to enjoy good music. Salsa band Swing Sabroso is scheduled to perform on June 23, and the concert on June 30 features The Blawenburg Band which play American brass music. Music of all genres will be performed.
