American Repertory Ballet will be performing The Nutcracker for the 52nd year as a holiday tradition. With over 100 performers, ARB brings the classic story of a young girl named Clara who receives a mysterious Christmas gift from her uncle. This gift, a nutcracker, leads to enchanted dreams of a snowy forest, a land of sweets, and a battle with a rat king.
Tree Lighting Choir in Palmer SquareNovember 25, 4:45–5:45 p.m. Palmer Square
Visit Palmer Square with family and friends and watch the annual countdown of the tree lighting. The 65-foot Norwegian Spruce will be lit with over 32,000 lights and a bright star. The lighting will be assisted by Santa Claus who will start the countdown. Afterward, children can take pictures with Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes. The PHS Choir will sing Christmas favorites to start the holiday season.
Princeton University Holiday Jam and Toy Drive
December 9, 6:30–8:00 p.m. Palmer Square
Enjoy the music of many acappella and performing art groups of Princeton University. In the spirit of giving, bring a new, unwrapped toy to JaZams Toy Store until December 6. Big Band Dance
December 16, 7–10 p.m. Cafeteria
Dance to the music performed by the Nassau Bands, Studio Band, and Jazz Ensemble. The bands will perform music from various decades, in a style similar to swing and jazz bands of the 1940s. Free food and drinks will be offered.
